Mr. Ronson
(Ron) Nguyen, CISSP, Ernst & Young, (Trends)
Ron Nguyen is the Director of Ernst & Young's Advanced Security Center (ASC)
in Houston, TX. He oversees the activities of more than twenty
(20) penetration-testing professionals, and has been instrumental in the
development of the ASC’s penetration testing methodology. Ron has led
several computer security engagements, performed successful network
vulnerability assessments, firewall penetration tests and security
architecture re-designs, and is also the course director for the Firm’s
eXtreme Hacking class.Mr.
Nguyen’s information systems security service experience includes
leading network penetration and vulnerability assessment teams,
installation of intrusion detection equipment and software, and training
of on-site administrators and managers; developing and teaching network
penetration testing and incident response courses for computer security
engineers; and custom designing and delivering incident response
programs and procedures for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Nguyen has also
delivered information security presentations to industry and
professional organizations
Prior to
joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Nguyen served for five years with the U.S.
Air Force Information Warfare group where he was deployed as a
consultant to Air Force and other Department of Defense locations
worldwide to lead penetration and vulnerability assessments, to correct
computer and network vulnerabilities, and to lead rapid response teams
to security incidents. His accomplishments included researching,
planning, and implementing the Air Force’s first Information Warfare
Aggressor program, as well as planning and executing detailed
Information Warfare attack campaigns during Air Force exercises. As
part of his duties, Mr. Nguyen has attacked more than 60,000 DoD
computers representing virtually all types of common configurations. He
has also developed and taught courses in security administration and
incident response.
Mr. Nguyen holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and is a Certified Information
Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
